Why did you choose Barry?
I chose Barry for several reasons, including the strong academic and financial support I have received throughout my journey here. What stood out most to me was the university’s diverse community, located here in Miami and its smaller class sizes, which create an environment where students feel truly seen, supported, and valued as individuals.
Why am I a student ambassador?
I became a student ambassador because I want to be a helping hand for prospective and incoming students as they navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives, choosing a university. I enjoy sharing my experiences and highlighting the many opportunities, resources, and unique aspects of Barry that can sometimes be overlooked, helping others see what makes this community so special.
Tips for someone searching for the right college?
My biggest advice is to find a balance between what a university offers and how it makes you feel. Consider the community, the institution’s values, teaching style, and class sizes, but also ask yourself whether the school has the programs and opportunities that will help you grow both inside and outside the classroom. Most importantly, choose a place where you feel supported and can truly see yourself thriving.
Service opportunity that you've participated in?
One of my favorite service experiences was participating in the Environmental Leadership Experience (ELE) in Adrian, Michigan. I spent a week at the Adrian Dominican Sisters’ Motherhouse, where we learned directly from the sisters who founded Barry about the Adrian Dominican charism and its connection to service and sustainability. Through hands-on work like removing invasive species, planting trees, composting, and learning about permaculture, I gained a deeper understanding of what environmental stewardship truly looks like in practice. Another standout experience was participating in the Floating Classroom with Miami Waterkeeper, where I learned about Miami’s waterways, the importance of water quality testing, and the critical role we all play in protecting our local environment.
What are your future plans? My future goal is to use my degree in roles such as consulting, project planning, or marketing, ideally working with large multinational organizations where I can make a meaningful impact. Beyond my professional aspirations, I also hope to continue my involvement in Scouting through the World Organization of the Scout Movement, serving in a leadership or consulting role where I can help empower and inspire young people around the world.
